Carole Lowrance Stephens of 80 Lake Heron Drive died Saturday, October 19, 2013 at her residence after a decline in health. She was born in Columbus, GA on December 29, 1943, a daughter of the late Roy Malcolm Stephens, Sr. and Lucile Balkcom Stephens. Miss Stephens lived in Richmond until 1998 and returned to Danville to help take care of her parents. She retired after 32 years as a social worker with the City of Richmond. Miss Stephens was a member of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of George Washington High School, Danville and Mary Washington College. Besides her parents she was predeceased by a brother, Roy M. Stephens, Jr. who died in 2003. She is survived by one sister of the home; Kay Mouring Stephens, two nephews, Kent T. Scott and Carter P. Scott both of Leesburg, VA, godchildren, Terrell Bradley, Shauntiqua Baldwin, La'Markus Baldwin, and Jamarius Baldwin. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 28, 2013 at 2 P.M. from Mount Vernon United Methodist Church with the Reverend Barry Foster officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. The family will be at the residence, 80 Lake Heron Drive, Danville, VA on Sunday, October 27, 2013 from 4 to 6 P.M. Townes Funeral Home and Crematory, 215 West Main Street, Danville, VA is serving the Stephens family.
