Bruce Wallace Glass, 88, of 220 Lady Astor Place, Danville, VA passed peacefully on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Health Center after being in declining health for several years. Bruce was born on October 10, 1926 in Simco, Ontario Canada, a son of the late George Washington Glass and Marie Davis Glass. He was raised in the Laurel Grove Community of Pittsylvania County and was a graduate of Dan River High School. In December of 1944 he was drafted in to the U.S. Army and served his country in the Philippines and Japan until November 1946. After his discharge he graduated from Phillips Business College of Lynchburg, VA. For 28 years he was a sales representative and district manager for Guaranteed Parts Company of Seneco Falls, NY. After retirement he worked for Farm Service Agency in Chatham, VA. Bruce was a member of West Main Baptist Church for 50 years, where he served as a deacon and also a member of the Fellowship Sunday School class. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club, North Carolina State University Wolfpack Club and the Danville Golf Club. On February 1, 1946 he married his high school sweetheart Lois Jean Wiles who survives of the residence. In addition to his wife Bruce is survived by two daughters, Jean Glass Morris and husband David of Durham, NC and Jane Glass Gilbert of Danville, a granddaughter Elizabeth Rae Gilbert of Roanoke, VA, a sister-in-law Rachel Wiles Dalton, three nephews and two nieces. Bruce was the last surviving member of his family in addition to this parents he was predeceased by his brother Carrol Glass, sister-in-law Nancy Glass and a brother-in-law Edgar Dalton. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at 3 PM at West Main Baptist Church with Reverend Bruce Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 2:00 pm to 2:45 pm.
