Brice Randall Bickford was welcomed peacefully into the arms of his loving Savior on Saturday, January 2, 2021, at his home in Danville, VA with his devoted wife and family by his side. Brice was born on December 9, 1942 in Newport News, VA to Charles Randall Bickford, a coal miner and skilled tradesman, and Wanda America Adkins Bickford, a homemaker and all-around pistol. With his four siblings, Brice spent his early years “running up and down the hills of Hellier, Kentucky” as he liked to say, and playing in the creek behind his family’s home. Job opportunities eventually brought his family to Danville, VA, where Brice attended high school, and later began apprenticeships to become a welder and a pipefitter. In 2004, after 25 years working as a maintenance supervisor at Goodyear, Brice retired and spent his golden years with his wife Phyllis, traveling as far south as the Florida Keys and as far north as Bar Harbor, Maine. Along with faith and family, travel was one of Brice’s greatest passions. He enjoyed camping with his wife and friends in Florida, and taking trips as a volunteer with God’s Pit Crew to rebuild homes and businesses in cities impacted by natural disasters. Brice is survived by his wife, Phyllis, whom he married on November 19, 2005, and his children: Kimberly Paige Bickford, her husband, Mike, and their children, Abby and Liam; Randall Keith Jones, his wife, Jennifer, and their children, Hannah and Graham; Brice Randall Bickford II, his wife, Lara, and their son, Isaac Zayd; and Adam Gregory Jones and his wife, Joy. Brice is also survived by his brother, Darryl, his sister, Rose, his brother, Chuck, and his sister, Kathy, and many nieces and nephews. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the family will hold a funeral service on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at 224 Lamberth Drive. Townes Funeral Home and Crematory, 215 West Main Street is serving the Bickford family.
