On Wednesday, March 9, 2016, Walter Brent Helms completed this stage of his journey. A kind and generous soul who loved his family and friends has returned to God. He was loved in this life, and knew the joy of being a son, husband, brother, uncle, and friend. He leaves an empty place in the lives of his family because he was loved passionately and deeply. Brent was born in Little Rock, AR on February 27, 1970, a son of Walter Lee “Butch” Helms of Greensboro, NC and Camille Lindley Hayes of Southport, NC. Brent was a jeweler with Commonwealth Silver and Goldsmiths. He was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church. Besides his parents he is survived by his husband; Robert Bragg of the home; step-mother, Joy Helms of Greensboro, NC, sisters, Sherry Wilson and her husband Bob of Southport, NC and Lydia Hairston of Reidsville, NC, a beloved niece, Abigail Faith Wilson of Southport, NC, nephews; Conner Lee Wilson of Okinawa, Japan and Aidan Ellis of Reidsville, NC, grandmother, Mary “Polly” Lindley of Pleasant Garden, NC, mother-in-law, Juanita B. Bragg of Shipman, VA, brother-in-law, Douglas Bragg and wife Tammy of Amherst, aunt, Debbie Lindley of Greensboro, NC, cousins; Kim Tussey of Lexington, NC and Megan Scudder of Greensboro, NC and loved by many other family and friends A celebration of Brent’s life will be held on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. from Ascension Lutheran Church with the Reverend Meredith Williams officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence at 716 Patton Street on Saturday, March 12, 2016 from 2 to 5 P.M. Flowers are appreciated.
