Bill Edward Moss, 67, of Ringgold, Va., went home to be with his heavenly Father on October 15, 2014 at his home after a year long battle with cancer. He was born in Danville, Va. on January 26, 1947 to the late Dewey Preston Moss and Oma Anderson Moss. Bill was a graduate of Tunstall High School and served his country in the US Army where he was stationed in Vietnam. He retired from driving a tractor trailer truck after 33 years. He was a member of Glen Hill Baptist Church. On August 1, 1978, he married the former Judy Conner Linens who survives of the home. He was a good and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and loved his family and friends very much. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a stepdaughter, Darlene Linens of Ringgold, Va.; a stepson John Rodney Linens and his wife, Paula of Ringgold; two sisters, Nancy McCune and her husband, Richard of Danville, Va., and Nellie Dalton of Gretna, Va.; four brothers, Barney Moss and his wife, Callie of Danville, Va., Leon Moss and his wife, Frances of Boham, Tx., Ray Moss and his wife, Dorothy of Staley, NC., and Melvin Moss and his wife, Sharon of Crossville, Tenn.; three granddaughters, Jessica Weaver and her husband, Jason of Powhatan, Va., Amanda Orrell of Danville, Va., and Tatum Linens of Ringgold, Va.; one grandson, Jonathan Paul Linens of Ringgold, Va.; two great-granddaughters, Kaedence Jaylyn Orrell of Danville, Va., and Kate Nichole Weaver of Powhatan, Va.; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by three brothers, Robert Moss, Charles (Bunnie) Moss, and James (Sam) Moss. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 17, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Townes Memorial Chapel, 215 West Main Street, Danville, Va. with the Reverend Chris Wright and Reverend J. B. Baldridge officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens with Full Military Honors presented by American Legion Post 1097. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 16 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Townes Funeral home and at other times at the residence, 531 Mountain Hill Road, Ringgold, Va. The family would like to thank Commonwealth Home Health Care and the hospice nurses for all of the help and care they gave to Bill and his family.
