Bickford Patton Jennings passed away June 25th, 2016 at home in Milton, North Carolina. He was born March 26, 1947 in Danville, Virginia to James Wilson and Mary Lee Jennings. Patton graduated from Averett College in 1975. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He worked in retail for a number of years and several as a corrections officer in the North Carolina prison system until his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Melanie; children, Rebecca Hancock, Michael Pendleton and George Kupit; his brother James W. Jennings, Jr. of Roanoke; six grandchildren; four nieces; one nephew; and seventeen foster children. He was predeceased by his parents. He was an outstanding golfer and prolific reader. He enjoyed vigorous exercise and conversation and an avid student of philosophy. He was devoted to his family and well loved by all who knew him. Services will be private.
