Mrs. Betty Catherine Batterman Gibson of Brookdale, 149 Executive Court, Danville, died Tuesday, November 30 at Sovah Health after a brief illness. Mrs. Gibson was born in Ringgold on May 31, 1930, a daughter of the late Hattie Beatrice Keen Batterman and Frederick Christian August Batterman. She was an active member of Kentuck Baptist Church. Mrs. Gibson was a graduate of Dan River High School and retired from Virginia Bank & Trust. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Bernard Gibson; her siblings, William “Bill” Batterman, Clinton Christian Batterman, Charles Raymond Batterman, Brantley Keen Batterman, Geraldine Beatrice Batterman Swicegood, Emma Batterman Vick, and Peggy Batterman Williams. Mrs. Gibson is survived by a brother, Frederick Mickel Batterman and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Kentuck Baptist Church with Don Merricks officiating. Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Townes Funeral Home, 215 West Main Street, is serving the Gibson family.
