Mrs. Bettie Kate Holley Dabbs, age 99 died Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Heathcare Center after a decline in health. She had been a resident at Roman Eagle for the past three and one-half years. Mrs. Dabbs was a resident of the North Danville community for many years and was retired from Dan River, Inc. as an inspector. She was a charter member of First Independent Methodist Church and was an active member until her health started to fail for the past 59 years. Mrs. Dabbs was married to the late James Dabbs. She was born in Danville on September 25, 1914, a daughter of the late William C. Holley and Sallie Stowe Holley. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her siblings; Bessie Sims, William C. Holley and Nelson Holley. Mrs. Dabbs is survived by one brother, Jesse Holley of Danville and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, September 15, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. from the graveside at Mountain View Cemetery with the Reverend David Wilson officiating. Townes Funeral Home and Crematory, 215 West Main Street is serving the Dabbs family.
