Barbara Hamlett

Barbara Jean "B.J." Hamlett, 76, of 363 Cedarbrook Drive died Friday August 30, 2013 at Danville Regional Medical Center. Born in Danville, on January 13, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Jesse Howard Doss and Frances Smith Doss. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Patricia Saunders and a half-sister, Liz Taylor. She had worked at Dan River Inc. in the accounts payable department and was a member of College Park Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Red Hats Society and the Danville/Pittsylvania Chapter of ABWA. She is survived by one son, Keith Hamlett of Pelham, NC; three daughters, Vicki Reed and husband, Robert, Karen Nations and husband, Phillip all of Danville, Angie Moore and husband, Toby of Dry Fork, VA; one sister, Becky D. Doss of Danville; one brother, Richard Doss of Greer, SC; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Laura Swift. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 2:00 PM at College Park Baptist Church, with the Reverend Dr. CAM McIntire and Reverend Archer McIntire officiating. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday, September 2, at Townes Funeral Home from 7:00 to 8:30 PM and at other times at the residence.
