Barbara Anderson Fitzgerald, Age 91, went home to her Heavenly Father, early Thursday morning, February 18, 2021. Barbara had fought a long hard battle with COPD and recently was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Barbara was born in Danville, VA on January 10, 1930, daughter of the late Mack Damos Anderson and the late Violet Beck Anderson Crider. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Lee Fitzgerald, and her sister and brother-in-law, Empress and Herman (Nig) Gosney. Barbara is survived by her two children, Leah Ann Fitzgerald, daughter, and (husband, Tim Mauldin) and her son, Thomas Lee Fitzgerald Jr and a number of nieces and nephews. Barbara graduated from George Washington High School and was a graduate of Averett College, and spent her working career at Dibrell Brothers Inc, until her retirement. Barbara was a member of North Main Baptist Church, and was a long-term member of Tuscarora Golf Club where she loved to play golf with her friends. The game of bridge was a favorite where she demonstrated her love of the game as a member of the Danville Duplicate Bridge Club. Barbara was best known for her generosity and loving heart by her friends and the community. A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 15, 2021 at 11 A.M. from Highland Burial Park with the Reverend Fred Unger officiating.
