Barbara Easley

Barbara Newby Easley, 79, of 2149 Hackberry Road, Sutherlin, Va. passed away peacefully Saturday morning, August 10, 2019 at her home.    She was born on August 8, 1940, in Sutherlin, Va., a daughter of the late John Robert Newby and Margaret Barton Newby.    Barbara was married for 61 years to Garrett A. Easley, who survives of the home.    She was a homemaker and a member of Arbor Baptist Church, where she founded the Helping Hands program and served as choir director for a number of years.    In her early years, Barbara and her family spent their years traveling as a military family.    In addition to her husband, Garrett, she is survived by her daughter, Jayne Easley Church and her husband, Craig, of Sutherlin; two grandchildren, James Church and his wife, Katie of Sutherlin and Rebecca J. Hudson and her husband, Jonathan, of Alton, Va.; two great-grandchildren, Jonah Hudson and Mary Katherine Hudson; two sisters, Elizabeth N. Williams of South Boston, Va. and Brenda N. Livengood and her husband, Del of Keeling, Va.; and a number of nieces and nephews.    Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, August 12, 2019 at Arbor Baptist Church with the Reverend Larry Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Burial Park.    The family will receive friends Sunday, August 11, from 4:00 to 5:30 PM at Townes Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
