Audrey Murphy

Audrey Harrell Murphy, 89, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2019 at her residence.    She was born in Danville, on October 13, 1929, a daughter of the late Redmond Lewis Harrell and Blanche Worley Harrell.    On April 6, 1947, she married Robert Jennings Murphy who passed away on May 18, 2010.    She was a member of Third Avenue Congregational Christian Church and was a former volunteer at Danville Memorial Hospital.    She is survived by three daughters, Audrey Marie Murphy Black, Susan Murphy Sellers and Mary Daisy Murphy, all of Danville; a son, John Robert Murphy (Susan) of Ringgold, Va.; five grandchildren, Wendy Black Mies (John) of Greensboro, NC, William Drake Easley of Chatham, Va., Elizabeth Easley Myers (Jeff) of Murrells Inlet, SC, Sonya Murphy Wingate (Stephen) of Ringgold, Va., and J. R. Murphy of Danville; and seven great-grandchildren.    Audrey was predeceased by a grandson, Dennie Wayne Black; a son-in-law, Edward Lee Black; two brothers; and one sister.    Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, March 26, at 2:00 PM at Schoolfield Cemetery with the Reverend Daryl Joyce officiating.    The family would like to express their special gratitude to Audrey’s caregivers, Priscilla Sims and Rhonda Allen.
