Artie Luther Clay, 84, passed away on Saturday morning, December 01, 2018 in SOVAH Health  Danville.      He was born on September 2, 1934 in Halifax, Va. a son of the late Howard Clifton Clay and Irene Brown Clay.      Artie served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959.  He was employed with Steamfitters Local 491 in Roanoke, Va. as a welder and pipefitter until his retirement.  He was a member of Third Avenue Christian Church.      He is survived by his wife, Nancy Crider Clay of the home; two daughters, Kristy E. Clay of Keeling, Va. and Sherry H. Farlow of Danville;  a grandson, Marcus Swift and a great-grandson, Levi Swift both of Danville; a brother Emmett Clay of Alton, Va.  and a sister, Annie Mae Bowen of Virgilina, Va.      A graveside service with Military Honors will be held on December 3, 2018 at 11:00 am at Danville Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Adrian Moore officiating.      The family will receive friends at the residence.  Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
