Rev. Arnold Reid Faw, currently of Danville, VA, passed into his Heavenly Home on January 31, 2023. He was born to Reid Howard and Lillian Bowman Faw in Mount Airy, NC.
In 1964, Arnold married Linda Draughn. They enjoyed two children, Randall Faw (deceased in 2012) and Karen Faw Holland. His dear Linda passed away in 1997. In 2002, he wed his current wife, Lynn Pugh Faw.
Arnold's passion was to serve God through Jesus Christ. In 1986, God called him to preach. This calling led him to preach revivals and to pastor four Friends churches: South Fork of NCYM in NC, Saxapahaw of EFC-ER in NC, Springdale of EFC-ER in OH, and Ferry Road of EFC-ER, in Danville, VA, where he has been since 2008.
Arnold was predeceased by his parents, his wife Linda, his son Randy, and sisters Fay Faw and Peggy Martin.
He is survived by his wife Lynn; daughter, Karen Holland (David); grandchildren, Cody Faw (Sam), Allysia Grabner (Mitch), and twins Jared (Alissa) and Jacob Trindade; along with step-sons, Dustin Holland (Olesya), Rev. Michael Thames (Anita), and Rev. Daniel Thames (Dana); great-grandson, Killian Faw; six step-grandchildren; sister, Sue Moody; brother-in-law, James Martin; one nephew; and three nieces.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 4th, at 11:00 AM, at Ferry Road Friends Church, 741 Ferry Rd., Danville, VA, with Reverend Nelson Puffenbarger and Reverend David Mercadante, District Supt. of Evangelical Friends Church Eastern Region. The Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, February 11th, at 11:00 AM, at Union Hill Friends Church, 2315 Red Brush Rd., Mount Airy, NC.
