Hattie “Agnes” Watson Williams, 93, of 3229 Cedar Road, Ringgold, passed away on Saturday, November 18th, 2023, at Sovah Health in Danville, VA, following deteriorating health.
Born on April 1st, 1930, to the Climax community of Pittsylvania County, Agnes was a daughter of the late Wiley Isaac Watson and the late Hattie Walker Watson. She graduated from Climax High School in 1948, and went on to marry the late Linwood Hansel Williams, Jr. (d. 2014) on June 20th of that same year. In a union that would span 66 years, Agnes became a homemaker who loved every minute of it. She was a member of The Tabernacle where she faithfully volunteered in the nursery. She will be remembered by loved ones as reliable, loyal, and god-fearing.
Agnes was also preceded in death by her nine sisters, Myrtle, Hazel, Gertrude, Eva, Mabel, Rebecca, Margaret, Jane, and Ivy; seven brothers, Harold, Rhoderic, Wesley, Denton, Wiley, Elberton, and an infant brother; one grandson, Andrew Williams; and one great-grandson, Asher Graydon.
Agnes is survived by her two sons, Warren Williams (wife Nancy) of Danville, and Danny Williams (wife Jean) of Ringgold. She also leaves behind six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Agnes would like to extend a special thanks to Robin, Debbie, Jessica, Susan, Deborah, and Shelley for their faithful care over many years.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 20th at Townes Funeral Home from 12:00 - 1:30 p.m. and at other times the family is receiving visitors at 3229 Cedar Road, Ringgold. Graveside service to follow at Highland Burial Park at 2 p.m.
